Dear Past St. Francis Health Foundation Supporter:

I want to share with you the positive news that SCL Health has selected a for-profit joint venture between The University of Kansas Health System in Kansas City, Kansas and Ardent Health Services in Nashville, Tennessee to assume ownership of St. Francis Health. After reviewing proposals from multiple organizations over the last year, SCL Health selected the joint venture proposal as it met the established criteria to ensure the long-term viability of St. Francis Health within the Topeka community.

As part of the transition process for St. Francis Health, it will be necessary to dissolve the St. Francis Health Foundation and redistribute all of the Foundation’s charitable assets within the greater Topeka community, and more specifically, with the Topeka Community Foundation, an organization created over 33 years ago. Establishing the St. Francis Fund, these dollars will be reserved for projects and programs that follow original donor intent. In addition, two endowed funds will be transferred to Washburn University, as a result of donor direction and intent for continuing education. But, rest assured, no charitable donations or funds will leave Kansas and these dollars will continue to serve local needs.

In our efforts to put these dollars to work in the greater Topeka community as quickly as possible, the St. Francis Health Foundation will cease operations on July 31, 2017.

We cannot thank you enough for your generosity and support over the years. Your commitment to quality healthcare for the greater Topeka community has not gone unnoticed and we vow to honor your dedication and commitment throughout this transitional period.

Megan Mahncke, M.A.
